The Roman town of Frejus (Forum Julii or Julius’s Forum) was an important port dug deep into a lake and linked to the sea by canal. Today Frejus is popular with tourists because of its particularly excellent beaches

| Old Frejus: Groupe Episcopal | Historical Remains |
| Certain medieval buildings survive, in the rues de Beausset, de Fleury, Jean-Jaures and Grisolle. The most important remains are in the Groupe Episcopal: this has an important 5th-century Baptistry, a 13th-century cathedral, and a 12th-century Cloister with lovely 16th-century painted panels. A small aarchaeology museum displays the finds from recent excavations. | |
