| Pelham House is a 16th Century country house that was restored and rebuilt in the 1800's The two main owners have been the Pelham and the Goring families. Outside there is an extensive garden and views over the unspoilt Sussex Downs. Pelham House has currently 23 bedrooms [extending to 30 plus in phase 2].There are up to 12 meeting rooms. Lewes is an old county town that is steeped in history. John Harvard, founder of Harvard University spent time here as did William Penn and even Buffalo Bill played to local audiences. Tom Paine who was a one-time neighbour to Pelham House wrote 'The Rights of Man', played a key part in the French revolution and then went on to co-author the American Declaration of Independence.
