MILITARY BERETS

The military beret is in constant demand - and not just from the military.

Our suppliers of the Basque beret, stylish wool berets and hunting berets also make berets for armies all over the world - and you can get your own military style beret from us! The berets come with a leatherette sweat band and piping round the edge. A ribbon allows for fine adjusting of the size. They are 100 % wool, and the top of the beret is lined.

When ordering your beret you need to specify colour, your head size and the size of the beret as well as the quality. Military berets tend to be smaller than Basque berets but we recommend that if you want a head size of 60 or more you should get the larger (9") beret. The price of the beret depends on the outside dimensions, not the head size. Here is an explication of the various possibilities:

• COLOUR: Black, khaki and a range of blues, reds and greens. See the chart below. Other colours available for large orders.
• HEAD SIZE: This is in centimetres and represents the circumference of the head. Our berets are available from 51cms to 62 cms. The average head size of an adult is between 55 cms and 60 cms.
• BERET SIZE: This is the diameter in inches (that's the way they do it here!) of the OUTSIDE of the beret. There are three sizes: 8, 8.5 and 9.
• BADGE POSITION: French military berets have the leatherette reinforcing pad for the badge on the right - as opposed to the US and UK which have it on the left. You can choose which position you prefer.

COLOURS: Please note that the representations of the colours here are only approximate: exactly how they appear on your screen depends on too many variables for us to guarantee an exact match. Because of the difficulty in accurately representing the subtle differences of colours in wool we strongly recommend that anyone considering bulk orders asks us for a sample of the material first.

HEAD SIZES

Below is a table giving approximate equivalents for European head sizes. The circumferance - in centimetres - can be measured by putting a tape measure round where the sweat band of a hat normally fits. The approximate equivalent cap size used in the US is also given.

EXCHANGE POLICY: please note that these berets are made to order. We do not hold stock. This means that we can keep our prices low, but it also means that we are unable to exchange berets unless there is a defect in manufacture.

POSTAGE & INSURANCE: Postage is calculated by weight. Items will be sent by airmail unless you specify otherwise. NB: express/Fedex is very expensive.If your package comes to more than 2 kilos it is automatically insured. Tick the insurance box for items less than 2 kilos for insurance. The extra charge is 5 euros. We no longeroffer dispatch by Fedex as we have found them unreliable. If you choose Express it will go by Chronopost, the French express service.
