SENEGAL is a growing tourist country in Francophone West Africa. Its relative stability - a multi-party democracy has enabled it to develop its tourism industry since disturbances in 1994 in the southern part o th country (below Gambia).
The tourist town of SALY PORTUDA is on the outskirts of Mbour, just a couple of hours from the capital DAKAR, and is in one of the two areas where tourism is being actively encouraged, and which also escaped the problems of the early 90s.
