Capital of Gers and home to D'Artagnan, the Musketeer - or rather Charles de Batz, the real life character on whom D'Artagnan was based, Auch is a particularly charming city on a reasonable scale. The medieval city, with its ocre stone and rose-coloured tiles, was built on the site of a Roman city, Elimberris.
The town, under the protection of the Counts of Armagnac, managed to stay calm and prosper throughout the rumbustious Middle Ages and the cathedral, the ancient prison, are still an integral part of the town, as well as more modern (18th century) buildings. Round every corner in the centre there is an old house to marvel at - look out for the tourism office in its 15th century headquarters!
Campanile Auch is ideally located just 4km east from the centre of Auch. Part of the Campanile group, our hotel has its own unique character and atmosphere. Book online now Price: From €48 No of rooms: 46 Cards: Visa/Mcard Switch Child rate: Yes Ratings:
