Many towns and villages have a weekly market, but they can vary from just a couple of mediocre stalls to large agricultural affairs that are worth just visiting for the sights sounds (and smells), never mind the regional produce on offer.
We have listed the towns and villages below because they have either regular good markets or are they have interesting shopping centres.

Col d'Ibardine. Shopping centre on the Spanish frontier

Dax. One of France's most important spa towns, dating from Roman times
Saturday market. Dax's market on Saturday was first fixed by the Black Prince, and the locals have a saying: "That will last less than Dax market".

Hendaye. Border town on the Basque coast
Cross border shopping (petrol cheaper in Spain).
Laruns. Small mountain town at the head of the Ossau valley.
September, Regional and Traditional Market, Cheese fair.
Mirande.
Market Monday.
Orthez. Market town and one of the old capitals of the Béarn
Market Tuesdays.
Pouillon. Small but dynamic town with a welcoming atmosphere.
Wine cellars selling Chalosse wine.
Saint Etienne-de-Baïgorry. Pretty village high up in the Aldudes valley in the Basque country
Centre of Iroulegy wine co-operative (Red), near Spain for cheap shopping.
Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port. Important and picturesque town near the Spanish border
Cheap shopping over Spanish border..
Saint Palais. Important agricultural town in the Pays Basque
Market (including livestock) Fridays. The foie de gras in January and February is an opportunity to buy fattened ducks with or without their livers, or the livers alone, for the confit and foie gras enthusiast.
Saint Sever.

Salies-de-Béarn. Spa town known as the Venice of the Béarn
Wine cellars for Bellocq red, white and rose.
Samatan.
