Jurançon. Town that gave its name to the wine

Gelos - national stud. The Royal studs were founded in 1665. Today there are 23 national stud farms run by the French Ministry of Agriculture. This one was founded in 1808 by Napoleon Ist.

The stud at Gelos is concerned not just with conserving the blood lines of race horses, but also of local ponies - the Pottok, the Mirens from the central Pyrénées and the Landes pony.

Horse shows are held there at the beginning of July (Anglo-Arab), end August (Arab) and beginning of November (French cart horses.)

Biggest Hippodrome in Pyrenees Atlantiques.
