Located between Gironde vineyard and pasture, the RELAIS DE MARGAUX is a haven of peace where the traditional French ...

...way of life is still unchanged. You will be struck by the exceptional beauty of its situation. The Relais is standing in a huge park bordered by the Gironde, a marvellous combination of French elegance and English comfort carefully nurtured by its owners. The thick walls of the RELAIS MARGAUX which was previously on the isle of Vincent will whisper her story. This isle was a very well known vineyard until 1945. An excellent red wine with the appellation "Château Vincent Margaux" could be found in this land. Between then until 1984 a famous Bordeaux family owned the property and it also has been a part of the Château Margaux. The last change was in 1985 when the domain Vincent was transformed into a Country Inn. The groupe "Belhotel" purchased the Relais de Margaux in December 1997 and organised an important restoration; also new rooms were built which doubled the capacity. The central part of the building where nowadays the reception and some rooms are situated remind us of the old vast wine cellars. The restaurant the bar and the majority of the conference and banquet rooms have been installed in the old part of the wine cellars dated from the year 1900. Even though the stable disappeared a long time ago the park offers you other pleasures such as swimming pool; tennis; golf practice and putting green; and helipad. An exceptional wine list and a traditional discreet service in order to give you the opportunity to discover light refined traditional yet inventive cuisine inspired by local products. A place oriented towards the pleasure of gastronomy: the wine and the taste. The Restaurant of Relais de Margaux situated in one of the old wine-cellars with its mellow stone walls is a truly distinctive residence. Its several bay windows with direct access to the terrace give the brightness to the building. The pastel colours of the walls are infused with the fine silver and glassware. An exceptional wine list offers most of the prestigious wines from the Bordeaux region: Châteaux Margaux Château Rauzan-Ségla Château Labégorze-Zédé Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry Château Latour Château Mouton-Rothschild ... For those who like a traditional resort the bassin d'Arcachon is only 45 minutes from Bordeaux. Climb the highest sand dune the Pyla (112 m) enjoy several lakes and the pine forest of Landes and Gascogne (the widest forest in Europe) and finally discover the 1 000 000 hectares of vineyards. Savour at any time of the day the greatest Bordeaux wine with its different appellations. This is the marvellous surrounding that the RELAIS DE MARGAUX offers its visitors. The right wing of the Relais is even more spacious and the bedrooms are characterised by their British style furnishing. Built in 1998 they are bright and decorative and the bedroom with its small lounge is separated from the entrance."
