Guildmaster's Letter

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS SURVEY: The Guild has volunteered to take part in a survey being carried out by the University of Illinois. You can find the original post here and further details here on the university's website. They are doing a study comparing playing the usual way and with voice chat instead of having to type messages. If we are chosen to take part in the survey there is a 50/50 chance of being chosen to do voice chat. If we are chosen for that we will be supplied with both the equipment and software necessary. Whichever side we are selected for members of the Guild taking part in the survey will get $20, and if we all actually complete the survey (which takes place over a month and consists of 3 surveys) we get $40.

Taking part is entirely voluntary and I have already mailed in game those most active members with details. If you did not get my message and wish to take part then either mail me in game or email me with your real name and email address.

ORGANISED DUNGEON VISITS/RAIDS As the Guild grows we hope to arrange organised visits to dungeons and raids. The first took place recently in Ashenvale. There was something magnificent in seeing 5 Friends of the Dragon sweeping through the depths, destroying all that came before them! Congratulations to Duadain, Strah and Zaogar for getting it going!

RANKS: Well, no one has complained about the new ranking structure so I guess it stays. But now that the Tabard design is done (hint: have you bought your tabard yet?) it is time to put in place a proper promotion structure. You can see my thoughts on this on the guidelines page. I feel it should be on the basis of service to the Guild and its members more than on ranking in the game. But let me know what you think. Still looking for suggestions for some of the ranks. And I would ask members who have a good party with other members to let me know - in particular for Initiates (hatchlings) who deserve promotion to Member (drakelings). Mail me in the game.

To this end I have pleasure in announcing the promotion of Strah and Zaogar to Dragon Rider. Gollith has been promoted to Dragon Master - but don't be jealous! She is my Alt and it just saves me from having to log off as Gollith and log on again as Golgamesh just to do certain guild functions!

MEMBERSHIP LIST: There is a page for the Membership list (which I will not be able to keep uptodate every day so far as levels are concerned! I would like to get a list of professions going. Feel free to let me know personal details such as real name, age, country, job & email address - but only if you want to! It is a public page, you do not have to log in, as I don't have that facility on the site. I put email addresses in as " at " rather than @ so that robots don't harvest addresses.
