Friends of the Dragon (draft) guidelines

Rules sounds far too formal, and as a bit of an anarchist I bristle at the idea of rules - so here are some suggestions for guidelines. Let me (Golgamesh) know of any changes/additions/deletions you feel appropriate -and at a later stage we can all adopt them. Most of my ideas are pretty obvious really and probably don't really need saying!

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

The philosophy of the Guild is based on friendly co-operation, subject of course to the exigencies of the game. Member should be prepared to help other members with advice and where practicable in parties.

PARTIES

Loot in parties should be normally be shared (using the default taking it in turn setting) though obviously if you are not the leader it is not in your control. An obvious exception is when one party has all of a particular quest item and puts first come first served as the setting to enable another player to get the quest items.

Treasure chests should be rolled for and the standard etiquette of saying g(reed) or n(eed) for special items should be respected.

ASKING FOR MATERIAL HELP

Members may be prepared to give material help in respect of items and money, but their generosity should not be abused. General demands for money should be discouraged - building up your cash reserves is part of the game (except of course for Guild funds!) Be aware that some members who can make useful things usually need raw materials, and you should be prepared to provide them. For example, enchanters need exotic materials that are expensive to buy (strange dust, magic essence) but which can easily be recovered from magic items (green, blue) that when sold raise much less than the price of the magic essence.

COMMUNICATIONS

While a certain amount of gentle criticism, aka slagging off, is only to be expected during combat operations, especially if you die, members should avoid causing deliberate offense to other members.

PROMOTIONS

This is a policy that is yet to evolve, but I suggest that it should be based on service to the Guild and its Members. To this end Members who have been well-served in battle or in material help by another Member can best show their appreciation by mailing the Guildmaster (Golgamesh) (and later - when we have them - the appropriate Dragonmaster) with the details (what we used to call in Fleet Street a Herogram). Promotions can then be accorded on the number of Herograms received.

DRAFT POLICY: New members start as Hatchlings (=Initiates). Promotion to Drakeling (=Member) takes place for any 1 of 3 reasons:

Drakelings will be promoted to Drake (=Veteran) for any one of the following reasons:

Drakes will be promoted to Officer for any one of the following reasons:

Officers will be promoted to Dragon Riders for any one of the following reasons:

Dragon Riders will be promoted to Dragon Adjutant for any one of the following reasons

Promotion to Dragon Master, which entails taking some responsibility for running the Guild, will be at the discretion and invitation of the Guildmaster.

DEMOTIONS/REMOVAL

For the sake of being complete and comprehensive (and having read what WOW says on Guild management) we have to include this section although we earnestly hope it will never be relevant. Members who have cause to complain about another Member and feel they need to make it official should send details (a Slagogram?) to the Guildmaster (or, when we have them, the appropriate Dragonmaster). Do not complain about trivial matters. Demotions/Removals will only be carried out by the Guildmaster, after consultation with the appropriate Dragonmaster, and after the Member concerned has had the opportunity to present his/her case.
